The definition of an answering service is different, depending on what firm or what dictionary you look at. Some consider answering services as basic level rep answering the calls. From taking the calls to handling the calls though is a world of difference.

Our own firm, the Successful Office Group, has it's roots in the answering service industry. But that is where the similarity to the old companies ends.  Some of our sales people actually sound a bit insulted when we're called an answering service since we do so much more.


How We Define an Answering Service

Our definition of such a company is vastly different than our competition. Google the term answering service and you'll see company after company that takes messages, patches them, and that's it. 

What so many of these services say and do is worlds apart.  I can name names but that would get our own company sued. All I can say is when you call a company, be specific and ask many questions. The most important being who will be answering your calls.  The quality of your reps that will be answering your phone lines is of utmost importance. 

  • Do you want a company with a 49.99 special that scares you just reading the offer? If so be prepared to possibly have foreign workers with accents answering your calls.  That is fast becoming the norm in the United States. If not, then surely the employees can't know your company very well. After all, what is their salary? If minimum wage, then run!
     
  • Would you prefer a company to REALLY be your company, and not an answering service? We pride ourselves here at the Successful Office Group and our divisions like A.I.
