Nextel Communications

Was once a favorite of mine until I started to go with Cingular. The network at the time (years ago) had too many dead zones and I got tired of getting calls dropped.

Our company uses their text system for our clients that utilize Nextel Communications cell phones. We have a direct link to their system to input our messages.

As far as call center workers, in our office there are quite a few Nextel users. For an answering service the digital quality is superb when we patch calls to Nextel subscribers.

On June 26, 2006, Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE: S) completed its acquisition of Nextel Partners.  The Federal Communications Commission announced its approval of the purchase and transfer of more than 6,000 licenses on June 20, 2006, and the purchase received all other required approvals.

The acquisition will be seamless for Nextel Partners' subscribers and all existing sales and customer service channels will remain in place as Sprint Nextel executes a plan to gradually integrate those subscribers and support functions into its existing operations.

As part of the Sprint Family of companies, Nextel now offers the full line of Sprint products.
