Unemployment
Drops Further while Call Centers
In the U.S. Face Tough Times
The
unemployment rate continues to drop as the American economy
continues to grow year after year and quarter after quarter.
Does anyone remember
how before the past Preesidential election newspapers and
major news media sources like CBS, NBC, ABC and the New
York Times had story after story telling of how we were
losing hundreds of thousands of jobs overseas? They
actually had and continue to have the audacity to say that
the economic situation in America is bleak - especially
when Republican is in office. Outsourcing was
the latest bogeyman to avoid at all costs.
AP
Headline today: Jobless Rate 4.4 Percent,
5-Year Low
It is
amazing how our economy grows and grows and yet those that
want to paint a not-so-rosy picture point to American
corporations that transfer jobs overseas. They never
do seem to also point out that companies from all over the
world 'in-source'. In fact - we as a nation benefit
greatly from in-sourcing and our unemployment rate
continues to drop.
For years
the largest economy on earth has seen growth going on over
a decade. Yet you would not know this from the
media. To them, we need to hear only the negative on our
economy. It is as if they are on a mission to make our
country look bad - and only paint a good picture when a
Democrat is in office.
I
noticed this trend long ago when homelessness seemed to
evaporate when President Clinton took office, only to
re-emerge when a Republican took office. Yet the
figures never changed year after year. There are still the
same 1.5 to 3 million homeless in America. Admittedly a
travesty, but there are always those who for whatever
reason do not prosper. The point is that the media will
only point to and have major stories on the homeless when
the republicans are in office. From day one of any
Democratic Presidency, homeless explodes - and with no
change in the actual estimation of the number who are
indeed homeless.
I've
always found that interesting since I am not a Republican
and am not even a fan of President Bush. Yet if you are
not going to like someone in politics, at least be
factual.
Major
case in point is the percentages and unemployment. I
wonder how many who are not into politics knows that the
very same numbers that were used to damn President Bush on
the unemployment rate in 2004 were 'beautiful' and
'low' unemployment rates when a Democrat - President
Clinton was in Office.
Look
at this article from 1996 - CNN's own site. The article
states that the unemployment rate in the United States was
5.6%. This very same rate is terrible, horrible and
so on while Bush was running for re-election.
http://www.cnn.com/US/9607/05/jobless/
Now
is that a wake up to reality or what? Even though we live
in a free society with the freest press with rights backed
up by our constitution, the 'big lie' is alive and well.
Before the 2004 elections the major media did their
best to make Americans believe that the unemployment rate
was horrible. Story after story you would see unemployment
lines and unhappy headlines as this or that company closed
up shop in the U.S. only to open and employ workers in
foreign nations.
Most
never knew that the unemployment rate before the election
was 5.6%. Interesting how 5.6% is an 'already low' rate
according to CNN while Clinton was in office, and yet the
same percentage was horrible, getting worse and so on just
because a Republican is in office.
When
you point out these facts, is there any wonder that larger
and larger audiences are turning away from the major news
media (MSN) in droves, year after year. The American
people are growing tired with a media that constantly
attacks the United States and blames us for every ill in
the world.
Call Centers and
Answering Services Job Situation
For
the call center industry the outsourcing trend had major
implications as many of the easiest tasks could easily be
sent overseas for a lower cost to the company doing the
outsourcing. Indian and other workers overseas are
willing and able to do the easiest tasks and for pennies
on the dollar compared to their American counterparts.

The Trend
What
we've done here in our own company was do the opposite of
what many other answering services, contact centers and
virtual offices continue to do - which is cut costs.
We actually increased the salaries of our team members and
have done extremely well with our factual boast of having
the best paid and trained call center employees in the
United States. It is our belief that the small
business men and women who want Americans to answer their
calls understand that there is something lost when someone
with strong accents or from other cultures are handling
their inbound calls.
