So you want a home based business. This is what many people aspire to, but the question is what is the right business and how do you determine which of the thousands of business opportunities out there are legitimate?

This is a big issue because thousands of people have fallen prey to scams and people selling information that is pretty much useless.

Here are some tips that can help you sort out whether a home based business opportunity is legitimate.

Tip 1 - Has the seller succeeded in the same business?

Has the person offering the opportunity actually been successful in that same business? A lot of people are making money simply selling information and business opportunities and have never actually made money in the business that they are trying to sell to you. We recommend that you only deal with people who have been successful in the same business that they are offering to you.

Tip 2 - Get and check out testimonials

Can they supply valid testimonials from other people who have succeeded in the business? Ask for testimonials if they haven't been supplied and check them out to ensure that they are legitimate. If other people have succeeded with the business opportunity then that at least proves it is possible.

Tip 3 - Guarantees

Do they offer a guarantee? A legitimate guarantee can give you a lot of assurance about the business opportunity being offered. Usual would be a money back guarantee within a certain period of time and less common is a guarantee about the level of success that you will achieve within the business.

Tip 4 - Independent endorsements

Can the seller of the business opportunity provide any endorsements about the business from respected independent sources? Any such endorsements can provide you with some assurance that the business is legitimate as long as they come from trusted and reliable sources.

Tip 5 - Seek Expert Advice

You can often get a great deal of valuable information by consulting an expert with relevant experience. Think about which expert would really know whether the business opportunity you are considering is legitimate and consult that person. It is an investment that could save you a lot of heartache.

Tip 6 - What do you think?

Often we get strong intuitive feelings which can guide us in the right direction if we listen to them. What is your gut instinct about the business opportunity being considered? If you combine your intuition with the preceding 5 tips then you are well on the way to making a good decision in determining whether a business opportunity is legitimate or not.
